I haven't had much need to deal with this before but in this job it is a big part of our team. What are the differrent workflows for geting the proper parts purchased and sent to the right site? We deal with many projects at a time, we have many designers and engineers developing stuff and purchasing needs to be informed ASAP about changes to the parts list.

What we are looking for is a way to keep a live link between all the BOMS in all of our assemblies and the orders for purchased and fabricated stuff. I know that we can export a BOM to excel and the engineers can create RFQ from that but how can we alert them which RFQs need changing when the design changes. and further down the line, how can we keep Purchasing informed of the latest requirements?

We don't have the budget for a full-blown MRP system (apparently).

Is this something that iPropWiz can help with or even just native IV?

IPW only replaces the current way of entering iProperties. It does not "live" link with anything.

To do something like this you need to look into a more serious solution like SAP or Oracle (we're talking 100s of thousands of dollars)

Is there a "less serious" solution that we can do until the powers that be realize that we need a more serious solution ?

You could roll your own using SQL or Access. Still looking at some serious coding time and money however. What you want does not come cheap.
