Need to weed out those items that were implemented in 2012 and start a new wishlist for 2013.

Shall we add (OK) to our posts points if the features were implemented in 2012?

Or just a list of the items that were done. That would be a lot easier than reading through 200+ items looking for OK.

FYI: I created a Twitter powered wishlist that I will be posting the wishes from on a weekly (or so) basis to this thread or another 2013 thread.

1. Within .idw files, "SHIFT+turn the scroll wheel on the mouse" should cycle through the drawing sheets.
Or "CTRL+turn the......" would work equally well ;)

2. Better selection of profiles for extrusion - one area of a sketch should be selected for more than 1 pixel of mouse movement!!

3. Allow constraints on dimensions, e.g. if I place a horizontal dimension of 30mm, I want to constrain its centre to the origin so it's symmetrical about the origin.

Idea: Fillets have the option to add another type of fillet within the same operation.
This is 'similar' to the operation of the constraints dialogue box in assemblies, and the 'move bodies' dialogue box if using a multibody part.

My goal: standardisation of these options, so whatever feature you are adding (inc. holes, extrusions, etc.) you can add another within the same box, possibly from the same sketch and possibly maintaining the same settings to use (or modify slightly). Each of these options could be a button in the box, 2 options next to each other after clicking 'apply'? This is also similar to 'mirror' within sketch mode - you can 'apply' then create another mirror from within the same dialogue box :)

I know it's a bit late to place this one in the 2012 wishlist and should be in a 2013 wishlist, but still wanted to spread this wish among you:

Working with Vault, Inventor comes with the question if you wanna Check in your files when closing it. Why doesn't come with the question if you wanna ad the files that are not checked in yet?
Just got the problem that a drawing is not in the Vault and probably never has been. In the meantime if deleted the drawing locally, thinking it has been added in the Vault, and so gone permanent.

I know, my mistake, but still, if IV comes with that question it wouldn't have happened.

Did you delete the same drawing from "Old Versions" folder? Is it in the recycle bin?

I delete the complete folder, including the old versions.
And we've got a program (ccleaner) that empties my recycle bin every time I start up my computer.

You understand I turned off that option

Assembly environment:
1. When constraining parts and or/sub-assemblies, multiple selection would save an enormous amount of time by selecting the multiple items (faces) before choosing to flush constrain them, i.e. If there are several posts that all need to be in line, the user should be able to select all posts (same plane) and select all to align (all flush with one another).
2. To be able to quickly (automatically) constrain 2 parts in the same plane direction so that they are centrally placed to each other (i.e.; instantly centralize a post on a base plate), i.e., the posts is 100x100 on a plate that is 200x200, the post needs to be easily and quickly centralized on the plate.
3. Current issue - When selecting a face or edge and then and you hold the mouse still for the selection list to appear, the selection list is always in the way of your view - can not see arrow direction.
4. A massive advantage that could help save time is the ability to use formula in the constraint dialog box. Example: the flush edge of a plate set to always be at a distance past the edge of another by exactly half the first plate's length - the if the length of the first plate changes the second plate automatically moves to reflect

Drawing environment:
1. To be able to move a Detail View from one reference model to another (within the same idw) and the view automatically updates to show the new view ready for re-dimensioning.
2. Chain Dimension

You can add formulas if you have the parameters in the assembly. Look into linking and deriving parameters. Most of this can be eliminated anyway with skeletal and multi-body modelling.

4. Option for the drawing template to open with no default sheet size set and then prompt the user to select a desired sheet size.

You could have one of each sheet available and delete what you don't need. Is changing the sheet formats that bad? Do you really change sheet sizes that much? We basically only use A1, sometime A3 but not much anymore. You could achieve a prompt with some code in your template.. I also know users who have a template set up for each size sheet, this way they can reduce the file size of their templates.

5. When dimensioning, you can right click to pull up a menu for options prior to placing/positioning the dimension

Add center drills to the catalog of ifeatures. MDT had them ten years ago. I still miss it every time I add them. :bang:

Right click functionality in print preview. I would rather right click and print than have to press the print button. :$:
