I do some large models with many layers of derived sketches to keep things clean and simple.
Unfortunately it seems to slow down the process because I am carrying so much baggage around.
It was suggested that I break or suppress the link in my end sketches when my assembly is done, and just turn them on when I want to updated things.
Has anyone used this option and have you had okay results?
I am thinking the suppress link is the one to use???

Will it in fact stop inventor from going back to the upper sketches to recalculate every time?

Curious...

I work the same way.

I do suppress links in order to reduce baggage. I do not use Break Link, because it is not reversible.

You will find a great deal of slow-down happens because of the Vault. If you are using Vault, try unloading the add-in (as an experiment). See what this does to your performance.
