Content Center files: Preview image = last save preview and not standard image.

It's so annoying when I'm looking for a part and I only see the standard images :loco:

Split hidden lines when they are behind another part

For example a tube. I want the wall thickness to be shown in hidden lines (who doesn't), but when they disappear behind another part I'd like to turn off visibility of the lines. For the outlines that's no problem, but the hidden line is one line, so the whole line disappears

Centerline and center mark to be a normal layer or at least different so there will not be a hidden line instead of a center line.

Stop notification for changes that supposed to be made after opening drawing

Quite annoying when you open a drawing, where definitely nobody worked on, and IV gives this message.
For example:
We've got a note on every drawing which indicates the weight. If changes are made and the drawing is not saved it displays N/A.
So when opening a drawing only for making a print, it requires a check out and save :-|

Sean used to have parts drawn up on his former site! Can't find it anymore.

As far as wishlist I would love to see Inventor fully capable of integrating parts from some of the competition. We use both here and would love to be able to freely interchange parts between the tow software. It all depends on clients and what they require us to use.

How about having the weld symbols being intuitive like the hole and thread, it sucks having to call everything out to put the welds on and then try to remember what they were when you go to put the symbol on.

I would also like to be able to set the precision for constraining a bolt pattern to another bolt pattern. I understand that they should be exact but when your importing parts and they are not right its a pain to figure out a creative way to assemble them. Anyone who has done any machining knows if the pattern is within a thousandth it will bolt together.

Oh, and one more thing, why does inventor make me have to re-establish links for all my content center pieces. I always do a standard install, so the content center files should always be in the same place? I did an assembly in 2010 and then when I upgraded to the 2011 version all the nuts and bolts need their links re-done. What a PIA!!!!

Hi Newb Chris,

I've placed the first wish in your post on the list. That was the last to submit. It ended with 200 wishes.

It closes here. Guess next year we can start a new list for IV2013

Should we lock this one Sean?

Hello Falconeer,

What do they say, It's an honor just to be nominated. So making the list is great.

Multiple bodies in a sheet metal environment (maybe even multiple body flat patterns?)

How many years in a row do we have to ask for this before ADSK actualy listens to us. For Gods sake please add "SPELL CHECK" to IV. Also improve the text editor to include somthing simple like bullet points and numbering. AutoCAD's Mtext editor works great just put it into IV. How hard could this be. Come on guys we have to start making a stink about this.

Signed, Frustrated!

When searching the browser in inventor, hits are highlighted but obscured by collapsed assemblies and folders. How about highlighting or expanding containing folders.

How about more control of the parts list? Expanding and collapsing assemblies there would help. Also, since the parts list knows what has been ballooned, a field calling out the balloon page/s could be a help.

When applying colors to multifaceted items a painting tool (spray can?) would save steps. Rather that picking surfaces, then selecting a color from that long drop down several times, a color is picked first and the "paint" is spread as each surface is selected.

A search feature combined with data cards could be powerful. For instance find all parts with default material setting or find all with blank part number. Another useful search (canned dynamic?) would list all iproperties and prompted entry used on a drawing sheet and organize them on a data card tab.

  • Ability to attach a sketched symbol to a component view. iProperties from that component can be used within the sketched symbol.
  • Ability to share external iLogic rules via Vault.
  • Ability to schedule "get latest" from the Vault for entire folders.
  • Ability to write iProperties from drawing back to models.

I would like the ability to use frame generator to build custom profiles allowing me to unfold each part individually as sheetmetal. Example: An angle iron frame with mitered corners. I would like to unfold all the parts of the frame with my bend radius allowing me to cut them on the laser and fold them back up.
