i'm stumped with this. while using autocad with my netwrk connected, it hangs and is very slow. when i disconnect the network cable, autocad runs fast and never hangs. so when i work, i disconnect the cable, then reconnect to save my work to the server. this is a work around but a pain. most of my work is just a quick revision and i go through dozens each day. unplugging and plugging in the network cable is a hassle to say the least. my question is, what is auto cad doing with the network cable plugged in? i copy the file to my hard drive to work on it and all of support/templates are on my local drive as well.

Is this just when using the open file dialog? I was finding this and it had to do with shortcuts on the sidebar that were no longer available. When I had deleted the shortcuts the open file dialog worked as normal.

the issue is autocad wide. even mousing over an entity, it wll hang for a few seconds. using text edit will make it hang, mousing over any toolbars, menus, pretty much everything. as soon as i disconnect the network cable, all is well.

This sounds like it could be to do with digital signatures - check they are disabled. If this still doesn't work, you could try running AcSignOpt.exe (located in the AutoCAD\Support folder) and uncheck the verification option (that's all there is on the dialog that comes up when you run it). This turned out to be the culprit that was crippling GE Energy when they upgraded to Acad/M about 5 years ago.

i have disabled digital signatures and then rebooted. it still hangs with any .dwg file. i don't understand why though and it really makes a simple task daunting. thank you for the suggestion. i'm willing to try anything to resolve this!
