Anybody know what would cause a 9 page DWF file to take 20 minutes to print? It is a 3 MB file over-all. all 2-d floor plans (no 3-D models at all). I printed from Design Revue 2010... it "cleared" my computer in about 1 mintue, but then "sat in the printer" for about 20 minutes.... I tried the "Convert to .bmp" to speed it up, but that did not help.

are you connected directly to the printer through a tcp/ip connection or is it on a network and you are spooling the prints on a server

I guess technically I am spooling over a network connection (100 MB/S). I can spool a 50 page .pdf in the neighborhood of 10 MBs in about 4 minutes...but that DWF file took much, much longer...and there was no color.

Odd. Just for kicks. In the options settings in Design Review, take a look at your TAB "Drawing View" , mine is set at 1200dpi (default), try lowering that to 300 or 600 dpi. PDF are usually lower resolution.

In the history of DWF, I have never been satisfied with its performance; whether it's a graphics window, loading time, or dealing with printing from a DWF. I finally gave up in 2009 and purchased Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro-extended. It's not as "feature-rich" as Design Review (in terms of directly leveraging Inventor data), but it works a heck of a lot better. Besides, when I send a PDF of a drawing out to a customer, just about everyone has a PDF viewer, but no-one has a DWF viewer, and for a long time Autodesk required that you give your life story when you wanted to download the viewer.

Mike,

Thanks for the heads up...never checked that...but a good thing to check, I know we print all of our .pdfs at 600 dpi...

It would be nice if there was an embedded viewer for DWFs like SWX uses...either that, or just go out and get the viewer like Adobe does if you don't already have it...Why doesn't Mozilla just sell their soul to AutoDESK and embed a view into their browser...after all, it is Drawing WEB Format, right?
