I had my counselor one year at Bible camp get kicked out because he got a DWI on his "Off Day" while out with some frieds. That accident didn't help.

Word on the Street is that Governor Palin's future son-in-law will be at the convetion. It'll be interetsing to see how he handles the media. Did you know his Myspace Pages states: Does not want children. ?

Plenty of girls that went to my church camp (of course, after they had been properly courted and married  ) Infact, on my last trip home...most of them had at least one child...

My mom is always telling me aobut my "friends" from back in the day who are having kids everytime one gets pregnant...(she has grandchild envy I think) anyway...I digress...this is about whether or not McCain fumbled...and once again...I say no...

she apparently has only had a passport for one year.
this is a calculated political move by mcCain. it will either work or not.

all this bull about experience is just that. all presidents have hordes of advisors that can advise them on anything. as far as I am concerned all it takes is a reasonable intelligent level headed person.
From what I can gather, McCain chose her because she appeals to the far right and religeous groups. The only problem with going too far to the right is that you go full circle and become a fascist or a communist. I.E. someone that does not tolerate any critisism.
The troopergate business in Alaska is an example.

McCain took a gamble and it will work or not.

She has experience on one important issue and that's energy, which is THE issue now that the Iraq war is won and the economy is recovering.

I don't know what she knows about foreign policy but she can't do much worse than Mr foreign policy, Joe Biden. His plan for Iraq was to split it up into 3 parts. Give the south and its petro depots to Iran, create an autonomous Kurdistan which almost immediately would have started a war with Turkey, and leave the middle to the dogs & Al Quaida. Good thing we decided to try to win instead.

I think not enough is being discussed here about Palin's inexperience and stances in case McCain/Palin win (which currently looks like a long-shot).

In today's news:

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Asked by a third-grader what a vice president does, Republican candidate Sarah Palin responded that the vice president is the president's "team mate" but also "runs the Senate" and "can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes."

While aimed at a typical 8-year-old, Palin's explanations oversimplify the Constitution's definition of the duties of the vice president and don't match the office's traditional role in Senate activities.

The vice president's main duty is to replace the president if the president dies, resigns, is removed from office or can no longer carry out his or her duties for other reasons. The Constitution names the vice president as the president of the Senate but allows the vice president to cast a vote only to break a tie.

Full article here

Sure, she dumbed down the answer for tthe 8 year old, but still she got it completly wrong. She knew the press was there and listening so there's no excuse for getting it wrong except for her lack of knowlege on the subject.

To answer your original question Ron, I think McCain blew it when he enlisted Bush campaign henchman Karl Rove, who infamously destroyed McCain during the 2000 election. The selection of Palin had the Dark Lord's fingerprints all over it, a choice made more for the statement it made to the far right than for any other consideration such as her strength as a leader. Rove blew it this time. After the initial "bump", she has become a bigger punchline than Dan Quayle.

I would bet that the other 3 candidates (Obama, Biden, McCain) have no idea what the Vice President's Constitutional responsibilities are either. Reading and passing a comprehension test on the Constitution should be the first requirement for participation in the Legislative, Executive or Judicial branches of our government. There is so much misinformation as to what is actually in there.

What's msm?

I disagree that Palin has more executive experience than Obama or Biden. Either way, she has less education and intelligence than Obama, probably less than Bush.
