Hi all,
Can anybody explain how convert sheetmetal gauges thickness to inch. I got a reference which is given below. But I need the formula for conversion.

Why should there be a formula? How would you plug 000000 into the formula, if you had one?

I think you could probably plot the points (the ones above 00) and generate an approximate equation, but what use would it be between points? There would be no "real" data between the points. There are only decimal equivalents at the discrete gauge sizes.

They're just numbers, no relation (not that I know of). Also its different for steel, stainless, alum and copper.
For cad, you need to setup custom sheets will all the parameters like thickness and K-factor. Ture K-factor is obtained from experiment. In fact different batch of material with have different K-factor. Sheetmetal is not exact science.

plus sheetmetal thickness is not all that constant either.
over here they guarantee the min. thickness but the max can overshoot what you want by quite a bit.
looking at my steel book. for
4.5<t<6 % under = 4, % over = 8.
so the average you get is more than what you ask
