This contest looks pretty cool, im excited.

before I get started, I have to figure out what I want to model, so I wanted a little more guidance as to the intent behind "everyday object".

is that more of a size issue or is it more of a recognizability thing? i.e. are you looking for something that most everyone has or is it maybe a little more open, like something anyone would know what it is from seeing it?

e.g. a model airplane engine isnt really something you'd expect everyone to have, but most of us would recognize on sight, even if more for what it generally is than what exact brand and model it is.

Just trying to figure how wide to cast my net as I look around for inspiration here.

The intent of this rule is to prevent someone from taking a "pre rendered" object and submitting it. In other words let's say I make reverse osmosis beer brewing pumps. I might already have a model and a rendering of the object.

So we are trying to get people to create new and original models.

I would think a R/C airplane might be a bit on the edge of "ordinary and everyday".

Would you consider a folding knife as "everyday"?
