I need to create a part, such as an angle or tube, where I can specify the length when placed and then add features to it.

Can someone tell me where to start, please?

I am not sure about this. From my point two solutions are there, which may not be perfectly suitable.

1.Making design table (this will help only, if you use repeated length of the structural parts)

2.Writing an API program. For example 75x75x8 angle 1000 length. The Prgm has to ask the Part No, angle width, legth, thickness and length. So that the part will be saved in the curent directory with the required spec.

I hope this may help you

Thanks
Raj

Thanks for the reply, Raj. I am currently going with option 1, and adding configs for different lengths as I need them. I was just thinking it would be nice to have it as a library part where you could specify the length on placement (kinda like a custom iPart for IV).

A library part can maintain configurations. So if you set up the part correctly you can save it as a Library part and us it later.
