We have a lot of parts with multiple tapped holes or clearance holes and determining what is what is the only way to place fasteners. When you open a part and click on a hole it does NOT highlight the feature in the model list (yet if you are in an assembly and you click on an item it DOES highlight it in the model list... go figure!). If you right click on it you still can't find more info on it. You have to scroll thru the model list to see what makes the hole highlight.

Is there ANY way to easily determine from a part (or on a part in an assembly) the physical properties of a hole so you can make a determination what fasteners to place????

What we are currently doing is moving the mouse pointer over the model list in the part file until the feature highlights, then right click on the item in the model list and select Edit Feature.

Any quicker ways known?????

Thanks!
Scott

Yeah this has been a point of annoynace for a long time for me. IMO when you hover over a hole it should display the info in a tooltip.

One workaround is to use this macro. It reames the holes in the browser to their size and designation...

If you change the selection filter to features it will show up in the browser if you select a hole.

Yep, and if you RMB on the Hole in the 3D View you can select "Show Dimensions", "Edit Sketch" or "Edit Feature" directly. No more searching in your Model Tree.

(RMB on any part in your IDW --> Open) :D

Yeah, yeah...When you have used a product for so long without a feature you get used to doing it the hard way.

Besides I usualyl select the parts in the browser by name (after a show contents)

Looks good all the way around. Set selection filter to Features (sorry Sean, had to break down and use the filters) and also ran the macro to rename the holes. So now not only does the item highlight in the feature tree, but the description is the hole specifications so I don't have to do anything else to get allo I need.

Thanks!!!
