I might just be missing something, but I can't work out how to put a spot weld annotation on a reference line that doesent exist in the goemetry, eg I want to have the weld 15mm away from one edge.

In idw mode I cant put a line on that stays relative to the model, and if I convert the assy to a weldment I cannot get IV8 to pick anything but an edge of geometry, - Not that clever if you are trying to spot weld!

As an example - How would I apply a spot weld along the line shown in the sketch?

Just a thought (I don't have IV open). Use the split command to get an edge then use the cosmetic (orange line) weld.

Thanks,

I've now got an edge to attach things to, so I put the spot weld detail on in the weldment - The Only problem is that no matter what i try I cant get them to come through into the idw! - it will pick-up a visible fillet weld just fine, but not the spot weld i put in at the same time....

What is the point in putting them on as a feature if I only have to define them again in the idw! :bang:

Interesting. I can't get them either. Sounds like a bug to me.. Might want to post this to the NG. Maybe Gary will respond.

Tried Posting a couple of times to the ADesk Forum about non-existant weld symbols...

No replies,

Does this mean that no one out there is using the weldment environment?
