I got a new graphics card (NVIDIA). I can choose an OpenGL setting for it (eg : pro engineer setting or autodesk inventor setting etc etc)

On the Autodesk Site for graphics cards i can read the following :

NOTE: NVIDIA cards should not be run with the "Autodesk Inventor

I am looking for a benchmark with which i can test this.
The topic was started at inventorusers.nl and the one who is testing the opengl settings is using a spec view benchmark.

Is there a benchmark for inventor so this person can set the different opengl settings and then see what gives the best results?

Greetzzzz

There is this one.

http://www.sdotson.com/vba/Inventor6_bench.zip

This is not the one I wrote however. This one is more tuned to graphics...

Yes. It's just a macro. You run it on a certian part. The engine assembly that is provided with Inventor is a good model.

Yes, sorry Kent did help write that one. But it was such a miserable failure I didn't want to drag you down with me.. :D

If the benchmark was run with some consistency it would be useful but with all the resolutions/color depths/IV settings etc. nobody compared apples to apples. I also noticed I could get different results as compared to the debug tools on max framerate so I suspect the orientation of the model before it is spinning has a measurable effect on framerate.

But what I really used it for was debugging laptop drivers and settings and BOY DID I IMPROVE THINGS by doing mass tweaking.

Firstly, I'm really sorry if I am wildly off on this one but I've found that it is not just the Graphics that effect things...

If you want a full benchmark + Problem troubleshooting, try:

I think what Sean and Kent were trying to do is measure performance of IV graphics. Generic tests aren't as useful. I think everyone would have liked a real world diagnostic that compared every facet of doing real world work but since nobody on the planet has been able to develop that benchmark for any other CAD package I won't hold it against these guys for not coming up with it for IV. Until IV_CDRS/SpecPerv IV or something else comes out I guess its what we have.

Cool, Thought i might be off on that one...

It's just that using Sandra I found some other issues that needed sorting.
