I was just handed my first delivery of the 2013 product.
Electrical made it here first, I assume the rest would follow soon.

I'm sure many companies now are preparing their 2013 products.

The switch to USB was one of the best improvements to date, in fact I think I posted that was the only good feature from that release at the time.

Autodesk simulation is still on disc but the size is about one sixth I guess..

With even more inclusions in the new product design suites it is almost guaranteed.

Not all are on USB Sticks:

All of my Inventor based suites are on USB.

My other products still come on DVD's: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD P&ID, AutoCAD Revit MEP, AutoCAD LT.

However, it really does not matter for me since I just make network installation directories to install from.

I like USB flash drives. You don't have to worry about scratching them. AND the previous years flash drives make fantastic USB flash drives after they are are unlocked :)

OK so do tell how you were able to unlock one if you did. From what I have read many people have tried but with no luck.

Mine arrived today on a 32GB USB stick. Last year I didn't get it until the middle of August and that was after chasing the reseller.

I would also interested in the unlocking procedure if it exists.

its a Hardware lock...but here is the solution if your not worried about rendering it useless!
http://whatrevitwants.blogspot.com/2011 ... ia_20.html

REALLY Autodesk...really? ...why must you fail at the simplest "no brainer" things (the little things that make a big difference towards the perception of a company)
...come on how cool would it be to use this as your key chain drive...WTF OVER!

well, the reason they locked them originally was to prevent the IT guy from erasing and then, Oh hey we need the installer files, guess we have to go download them now for 5 hours over crappy work internet.

Very good reason not to have them unlocked until you know you have a backup of them somewhere. You have to reach to the lowest common demominator sometimes.

Say you live in a household with kids who have no problem reusing USB drives 'in an emergency'. I am always amazed at what my kids can and will do with computer parts. USB drives are cheap. If I were supplying software on them, I would lock them. I have a PTC provided USB that is locked as well.

Last time I checked the CDs and DVDs that software comes on are also read only :D

...I think the point here is they should make it a bit easier to unlock these...in the case one would like to do so...simple just add a step that's not obvious as the old floppy disk locks ;)
