...sorry Sean...not meaning to through a wrench in your iPropWiz...that does solve a lot of this...I just think the core iProperties interface should be approached differently all together.

iProperties interface should look more like the BOM...or Fx screens...a spreadsheet style interface with the ability customize columns to sort (retain last viewed or even allow us to save the default view in styles) and arrange data as we see fit.

Lets face it I've yet to see anyone actually use the majority of the default iProperties as they are titled...why is that...my suspicion is the interface...and the fact we all have different objectives on what titles and content we want per industry or company specific...bottom line is CHANGE IT...and yes you can map existing cell identities so that you don't FUBAR existing links and clever add-on tools like iPropWiz ;)

The intent of a spreadsheet format is to have columns like attachment...

2. I want to be able to edit the base component element in a pattern by use of double click instead of having to look for it in browser.

This method is correct. If you want to edit the part learn to use selection tools. Shift + RMB -> Part Priority. Now you can double click the part in the pattern. If you have it set to component you will edit the pattern instead, which is as per design.

I give a component a Ral colour (ral1013) in the assembly.(The component is a library part in gray)
I create a pattern of 2 components : ral 1013 is copied. So far so good.

Then i want to change the pattern in to 20 components. Oh joy : the colour is not implemented to the additional components?! :bang: :loco:

Only solutions : delete pattern and start all over.

I want that to happen. And no i cant change the library part in ral 1013 permanently.

You do not have to delete the pattern and start over. You can also select all the 20 components and change the color.
Though I understand it's not the perfect solution.

You can under grouping settings, in the parts list style dialogue. Somebody else may have told you this by now.

You are entirely right, the grouping thing I mention appears to do precisely bugger all. I can't get it to work anyway, and yes the sorting option is ridiculous it should be part of the style, and therefore an improvement for 2012.

It doesn't really bother me because the parts list is sorted as part of a general drawing format macro we run.

From the Wishlist topic,

A numbering system, like in Word, for general notes that will update when lines are added or deleted. Including proper text alignment.

I really like this idea.

I've always wanted to make an add-in for managing drawing notes. I envision it having predetermined note configurations with the ability to click a check box beside a note to remove it and a scrollable list to add a new note from. Click and drag to re-order. Customizable notes title. ect.

Currently we use a word document on our server that we copy and paste common notes from, but an add in like this would be a real time saver.

why dont you just use sketch symbols? make a text box with a border, then you fill it with notes, have a set in your template. You place which ever one you want and edit the contents to suit if it needs to be changed specifically for the current drawing.

We used to do this, but the notes on our drawing almost always contain custom lines. The word documents makes combining custom notes quicker than editing sketch symbols.
