In the machining environment of a weldment, I want to be able to share a sketch. The way that it is now, I have to create another sketch and project points from the original sketch. :loco:

They say that it is a limitation in the assembly environment.

In the part environment, when we do a rectangular array, we have the ability to choose midplane. I would like to see this in the iam environment as well.

What I'd like to see is Inventor prompt you for a dimension along the route as you "place" fittings (

Ok, so I've figured out that there is a way to do this, by hovering to either side of the fitting (whichever side you want to dimension from) right clicking, and selecting "Enter Dimension".
D'oh! Learning curve.

However, it still disrupts existing dimensions and constraints, so I stick by that part of my wish.

In the ordinate dimension after I place the ordinate dim set, I can go back later and add a dimension to the set. I would like to be able to add to the linear dimension set as well. The way it is now, if you want to add/remove from the set, you have to delete it and start over.

I want the possibility to see interference between two parts or assemblies immediately. Now you have to click two parts or assemblies. I am not talking about the calculation how much the interference is (i want that out : imo it is of no use) but i am talking about the "red zones" which gives the visual interference.

Not so...with IV2010 (not sure how long this has been the case) you can RMB on the set (Ordinate or Linear) and add them by choosing "Add Member" or "Delete Member" or Detach Member ;)

The wish I have a bout this feature is the fact you can not message the dims independently without exploding the "set" :( ...however this helps force the Limited Dimension issue with some high count feature parts :)

Content Center Electrical Components from the same manufacturers that supplied catalog Info for AutoCAD Electrical

If they could somehow link Inventor to the electrical project in a way to replace the footprint drawings that would be even better.

Cable Equity will populate Inventor (and other CAD) with 3d Parts.

Hold down shift to get extend (works the same as AutoCAD).

Works now for me in 2010 as well. I'll have to now try a track down why it was not working before.

With all the emphasis on "Mouse Milage", I wish that the all the prompts that come up would all have a shortcut key active. For instance, in the attached clip, when I place the dimension, I get a prompt. I would like to be able to press either "C" for cancel, or "A" for accept. The way that it is now, I have to take my eyes off of the model, and move the mouse up and pick on of the buttons.

This is just one case of the dialog for prompts. There are many more that come up. they ALL need to be looked at as well. I know there has been some changes in coflicting constraints in 2011 and I still have to move my mouse up and pick an option there as well (to keep or discard the constraint).

Turn off automatic angular snap for the attachment line of balloons in drawings

I hope one day we get rid of that automatic angular snap for the attachment line of balloons in drawings.

The snap for the balloons is more important, but with placing the balloon it often jumps to another position, when there is an angle of 15

Copy and paste a part or assembly with use of RMB : part or assy is placed where you click the "paste" command in the popup menu. Extra step : one click extra for postion of drop of part or assy would be nice.

These would come in handy:
1) Print to scale form a Part/Assembly (eg 1:1)
2) Layers and Hatching in skeches
3) Extrude with distance & to a face in Assymetric Extrusion
4) Save / Derive a flat pattern as an independant ipt, 2d dxf or 2d dwg
5) Remember print settings
6) Improve drawing table formatting
7) Right click create sketch on a drawing view
8) Re Align drawing views after creating (eg Rotate)
9) Add a quantity or note to a balloon (only possible with a leader & no line currently)
10) Custom filter categories in drawing parts lists (Eg Machine 1, Machine 2, Machine 3...)
11) Copy / Update drawing resources & iProperties from the template file
12) Add a Part to a single or Multiple LOD's
13) Create table based patterns
14) Re order LOD's
15) Create a seperate 'Derived' Assembly to then create a Light Substitute from
16) Record Macro's
17) Ability to dock Toolbars with the Ribbon active
18) Edit and create Ribbon tabs
19) Show and Hide all constraints in an Assembly (F8 & F9 as per Sketches)

A few edits here as I remember different items.

Drawing Environment: Fix the snapping of the GD&T Frame to a Rad/Dia Dimension or Leader Text. You can snap to the corners/midpoints of dim/leader txt but once you choose the desired node you can't re-attach to another node :(

All annotation should have apparent nodes like a text box and active as necessary to re-arrange annotations. This way one could attach/re-attach as many types of annotations together as desired (daisy chain style) AT ANY POINT BETWEEN THE THEM. These nodes shall be at each corner and midpoints about the annotations! Maybe allow us to further customize how we want it by cycling through the nodes with the CTRL key :)
