These aren't in any preference order, apart from the first one:

1. Autodesk to make 2012 (or 2013) a consolidation release. That is to ensure complete consistency throughout the software and to make functions currently available in one environment available in all. Maybe they should just get a team working on this constantly.
2. Access to all properties in a sketch environment textbox
3. Macro recorder
4. Layers in the sketch environment
5. Ability to modify the orientation in views in an idw. Much the same way as you can change the orientation of a viewport in autocad. This will allow idws to be more readily reused
6. Make the drawing resources part of the styles library so they can be controlled and modified from a single source, with the option of make them local only, much like styles are now.
7. A more versatile version of the bolted connection generator. For example, a user could take a hinge (that has been published in some way) and when they place it into an assembly the required holes in the adjacent parts are created.
8. A wood module, similar to the one supplied by Missler TopSolid. Its not only engineers that use Inventor, there are plenty of 'wood based' modellers out there, or cabinetmakers, interior designers that use Inventor.
9. All features, planes, sketches etc.. are nested under their respective solid or surface body. Only shared items are shown as normal items in the browser. This would provide a more organised environment for solid body modelling and reduce the length of the browser tree.
10. Ability to assign iProperties to Solid or Surface bodies, that are then passed to and associative with their published parts.

I would like the section hatch to update to the new hatch type when the material property is changed.

I would suggest following enhancements in Inventor 2012:

In part sketch, constraint symbols via F8 should orient towards view direction, like it was in Inventor R1 - R11, since 2008 it became like in the old MDT days. At least it is possible that constraint symbols orient towards view direction, when using the "Show Constraints" command when picking one sketch element at a time.
During Inventor 2008 beta-testing I reported this

Assembly constraint feature, should remember last constrain type e.g. insert, next time it is activated.
Currently the constraint feature always defaults to mate

Dobbel click on a part feature (aka "edit feature"), should automatically include the "show dimensions" feature, making it possible to edit all aspects of the feature, including dimensions via dobbel-click.
Back in Inventor R6 (or so) a dobbel-click, worked as the "show dimensions" feature

Dynamic slice, while dragging from selected plane or current view-direction.
While dynamic slice are activated, it should still be possible to change view direction.
This should work in both parts and assemblies.
I hate to mention that Solidworks & eDrawings had this feature already in 2004 :bang:

A function showing parent/ child dependencies in part

Some icon indication in the assembly browser, showing that components do have adaptive references, despite disabled (easier to find)

Feature scope for advanced part modelling. e.g. make a shell, hole feature, then select which of the existing features to be in the scope for the new feature.
To some degree multisolid bodies, solve that, but the limitation is that existing features are grouped into existing solidbodies

Escape, should be able to do a forced abortion of command which take long time, like rebuild etc.

BR Lars

Ability to use the referenced assembly part number & description as the Title on a parts list.

Sorry if this is mentioned already - in the middle of something and stumbled upon something that catches/annoys me everytime I edit tables and thought I should post/rant here...

When editing a table let F2 edit the cell, as it does in Excel. (and then let ctrl + left/right skip through the contents of the cell instead of jumping around the entire table).

tbh, would just prefer tables to act the same as Excel... (enter going down a cell instead of a line-break, which should be alt+enter. moving the selected cell's contents by drag+dropping the edge of the selection-box. etc).

oh, and how about allowing line-breaks in table headers...

A numbering system, like in Word, for general notes that will update when lines are added or deleted. Including proper text alignment.

Enable component patterns

What I mean is that I'd like to switch on and off the Patterns, so you can make changes on the first Part or Assembly and then switch the pattern on again.

Add "FROM" to IPT Features

I want a "FROM" option for part features!!!!

...meaning, allow us to pick from whatever we wish (i.e. workplane, face, surface, etc...) and then give a value REGARDLESS if the sketch profile exist on a SEPARATE face or plane!

Priority selection : add the possibility to select assemblies (with level selection perhaps)

Example :
I want to select an assembly under a pattern, it is not possible easily (except with the browser)
or I want to select a sub assembly into an assembly (the workflow to chose the sub-level can be difficult...)

the option : "Drop and ground" a part : instead of keeping the constraints after placed i would like to have it disappeared and the moved part grounded + instant colouring between two or more interfering parts.

+ : no more errors concerning constraints (replacing parts; changes to parts;....)
you can still place the part exactly where you want it.
- : you cant drag fully constrained parts anymore by dragging one part.
Not usefull when motiondetection is needed.

Sub assembly Selection filter in both the assembly and drawing environments.

Thin features. Draw a circle, set an extrusion length and a wall thickness. One of the things I really like in solidworks.

At the flat pattern feature, the round relief to be full round and not 3/4. it is important due to the fact that the cam punching programs are recognizing full cycles to set their tools (and has to be edited each one manually after at the dxf file). for laser process it's ok.
