Hey all,

I'm an active IV10/11 user trying to work my way over to the dark side here. Please excuse me if this answer is easy to find, but I've done a little searching and help-reading and I am still a little lost. I'm using an academic license of SW2006-2007.

I can't seem to place relations from midpoints. I can get inference lines from a midpoint, but it doesn't infer the relationship. When I am in add relation mode, I can't select midpoints. I am working in a 2d sketch.

Am I approaching this wrong, or do I have a setting set wrong somewhere?

thanks in advance,

Barrett

Yeah, I've got that checked.

edit: ok, I can get an inference line off a midpoint, but it doesn't make a relation, and I still can't pick a midpoint in 'add relation' mode. as far as I know, i haven't changed anything.

I'm not sure any inferences are sticking.

You can actually just RMB on the line and select midpoint from the menu...

Thanks eddy, that does it.

also, it seems to be set so that inferences aren't sticking... if I scrub over a point and then get a horizontal dashed line from it, then start whatever geometry, I get a white relation marker instead of yellow, and nothing sticks. do I need to hit a key to activate the inference or do I just have to go back and add the relation?

In a skecth, go to Tools-> Sketch Settings and take a look at what options you have turned on. I usually work with Automatic Relations, Automatic Solve, and Enable Snapping turned on.

RMB on the line and select midpoint, holding Ctrl key select the point you want to add coincident relation to.
or
Holding the Ctrl key select the point and the line (anywhere) and then the Midpoint relation in the dialog box.
