I have been having issues with companies using SW that seem to not understand how to make simplified model of their products for us. Because of that we have been forced to "remodel" some pieces of equipement from 2D content for our Factory layout purposes. We are in no way interested in the full models of any of this equipment and even if it came that way I would shrinkwrap it myself before using it in our plant designs to "lighten" it up.

I had one swear that you could rebuild a true model from any of the export "surface" style of SW file I have gotten from others, I do not believe that is true.

Can someone enlighten me to what SW can do that is similair to IV's shrinkwrap that allow for content to be share but protected?

Do you need solids? If you are importing into Inventor, you can set the default to Opaque surfaces and they will look like solids. I have problems with SolidWorks lightweight as it often removes or omits surfaces which can take significant time to heal.

If there is some setting in SolidWorks that would make solid 'shrinkwrap' models, I would also like to know what it is.
