So, should I run out and get the new Droid RAZR that is released today, or wait and see what HTC Drops?

I think i know what iDS, Kellings, and BHall already have to say

Replaced my original Droid a couple of weeks ago with the Droid Bionic. ( 4G )
Shortly thereafter they turned on 4G in my home town.

WOW - big difference between 3G and 4G.

Only issue I have is that it occasionally will loose data connection when switching between networks - seems to be getting better, may be related to Verizon getting their system working properly.

Unless you have 4G available I wouldn't upgrade - other than the 4G, the phone isn't much better than my wife's Droid X2

Hey I resemble that remark! Shirley you aren't serious?!?!?!?!?! Hello...Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the 1st PURE Google phone AND its pre-loaded with IceCream Sandwich ...on the Verizon network...and its 4G!

...seriously though I agree its a tough call...
1st - The Razor is nice cause its built tough as nails with a Gorilla Glass front and Kevlar backing...and its a sealed phone (splash proof) which means non-replaceable battery...but no worries cause the battery life is proving to be better than anything on the market! ...no need for spare batteries anymore (funny...just as the 4S is showing signs of serious drainage...maybe iPhone5 will have removable batteries LOL!) ...oh and you could link it with that exercise gadget thingy too...

2nd - Next spring a possibility of the 1st Quadcore phone is slated!!! ...but dual core is ok I suppose ;)

3rd - HTC Rezound is a nice phone too...

4th - ...another thing...the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is HUGE...with a whopping 4.65" screen! ...maybe too big? nah who you kidding...yeah like you would gladly upgrade from 24" monitor back to a 22"...phssst!

Well, I went to the Verizon store yesterday, and "tested" a Razor. It is FREAKING FAST! I downloaded the "Hanging with Friends" App...since is 19.5 MB...and it only took like 45 seconds...even on my wi-fi at home it took my D1 like a minute thirty...I didn't acutally sign into the game and play it (to see how fast it would run, since it is painfully slow on my D1). I also "tested" the Droid Bionic...the phones felt the same speed, but the screen on the RAZR is heads and shoulders above anything else Verizon curretnly offers on 4G (Since there are currently no iPhones that run 4G).

I see the D4 is coming in 1st quarter 2012, however, since I don't use the tactile keyboard...its specs don't really amaze me...plus, I REALLY want a kevlar wrapped phone.

My wife wants to wait and see if they will go BOGO, but the Verizon salesman made a good point...since the release of 4G LTE, they have not ever put a 4G phone on BOGO...they did it all the time with the 3G phones.

The HTC Rezound...not interested...that thing is the size of a brontasaurus and I could care less about the "Beats" software that comes with it. Yes it has a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, however, that means it will eat batteries faster than a 1.2 GHz dual core...and I didn't see the battery spec...but if it isn't at or close to 1900 mAH...it will be a waste.

I have never been a fan of Samsung's Form Factors...and since Google bought Motorola, I can't believe that Samsung will be the handset maker of choice for the next "Google Phone".

Also as far as quad core goes, really? if I keep waiting for a the best technology, I'll still be pushing this OG1 forever, since as soon as I buy a new phone it will alreay be outdated.

I suspect at this point, I will do a SuperOneClick Root on the D1 this weekend...and if it makes my performance any better...at least wait until the phone is not longer half of a mortgage payment.

That said, I saw in another forum someone asked the question about when did $299 become the new $199? It's simple...you can't get an iPhone for less than $299, and now that Verizon carries it, and phones equal to it, they don't have to try and undercut Apple anymore by putting 8 kajillion handsets out there... they have us hooked...that said...I can still take a 32 Gig RAZR (16 Gig + 16 Gig) and make it a 48 Gig for a fraction of the cost of getting an iPhone with more than 32 Gig... **Edit - I forgot that the Razor does not open up, and therefore I cannot change out the SD card - either way, I don't need a full 32 Gig of memory for music...I only own 10 gig***

I have pretty much made up my mind. I will have this phone, oh yes, I will. Its just a matter of if I get it in the next week, or wait out the Thanksgiving sales to see what they do.

Also, I found out, I am grandfathered into the old data plan, so, is still get truly unlimited data :D

You mean the unlimited plan that caps at 5GB? Yep, you are.

It's too bad that Android needs 2 dual and quadcores just to run OK.

Oh and Steve, Droids have the best battery life on the market........

WoW...that's a lot of kool-aide your drinking there Kellings.

You will stand corrected...soon enough! ...iPhone works fine cause it does 1/2 of what Android "DOES" ...btw its not hardware draining the battery in the new 4S ...no DUH! ...welcome to notifications and dual core Apple...oh do I care to mention the hacked app that passed the precious Apple scrutiny? ...time to pay the price for claiming to be #1...funny how Apple acts like a secret society like Scientology and quickly uses its brute force to overwhelm the news and search engines of their pains...its all going to come to a head soon enough...Apple can/will never be the next Microsoft...they will ALWAYS be a nitch...umm better said RICH tiny market share in the over all scheme of things :P ...Siri is way to advanced for the masses to adopt...came out of the gates a bit to early IMHO...but what else mentioned last month would make for a money bags gag anyway eh? ...certainly not a real notification system now would it? ...and heaven forbid 4G speeds...whoa Nellie...lets not suck THAT much battery yet...geese!

My Droid X factory battery last much longer with Gingerbread...very comparable to an iPhone...
...I dare any Apple Fanboy to not admit they tether...to a power cord!

...hey wait a minute...where's that marvelous WP7 device that was going to be the Android killer...or dare we claim again the iPhone killer? ...NOT! ...those devices will be sold for pennies on the dollar soon enough...a shame really...unless MSFT steps up and buys RIM or HP's WebOS...of course that will be strike 3 for them...

I still think you will see WP7 make a big run. It is just taking longer than they expected. I don't think it will be very popular in the US for a while. I think that it will gain traction in europe with those customers there that buy Nokia. There was a period in France last month that the Nokia Lumia was the number 1 selling smartphone outselling the iPhone 4s even.

I'm sure that Apple wouldn't mind being number 1 in the smartphone market, however, being the most profitable by far in the industry is OK by them I'm sure. It's just like their PC business. They have less than 10% of the market and get more profit than all the rest. They seem to pull in about 8 billion in profit a quarter right now. Somehow, I think they are sleeping OK at night.

Read any review of LTE, and it will talk about the drain on the battery that LTE causes. It isn't quite ready yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for it. Do you remember when the second iPhone was released? It was Edge only, not even 3G. Mr. Jobs said that 3G wasn't ready yet. He waited a year, the hardware was ready and 3G was widely available and everyone was happy. The same will happen with their LTE phones.

The only Kool Aid I have drank was Android flavor...........And it was TERRIBLE

When I went to bed last night at about 10:30, my battery was sitting aroun 57%. I rarely need to plug in during the day. In fact, I hardly ever even have a charging cable with me. Running iOS 5 on an iPhone 4.

...cause it does 1/2 of what the droid does...therefore its battery life is better...quite simple really...and the RAZR will match this with all the bells and whistles...

...FYI my Droid X last all day as well...if I use my extended battery its capable of matching the iPhone per your claim...regardless...the point is it can and does...your experience with a droid is like comparing a GM Geo Metro with a Mercedes Benz S500...points are valid until you drive a comparable vehicle...a corvette would be such a car...not exactly the same but its performance is far greater and much more exhilarating than the Metro Geo.

Well, even if it caps out at 5 GB...I still don't have to pay more than anyone who is paying for 2 GB right now...I can't even imagine what I would have to do to get 5 GB of data in a month...I guess I need to rent more movies on the Market...

I also Agree with Stephen...HTC did a HUGE diservice to the the Android name by releasing the ERIS. I would go so far as to say that 87% of iPhone users on Verizon, formerly had the HTC Eris.

I personally, would like to know the limits of the splash gaurd technology on the RAZR...you now, without sacrificing my own.

Wow the wool is thick on your eyes my friend...so apparently Apple saw they could claim to be superior and make huge profit with older proven technology...so in comparison many drank there expensive kool-aide...its hard to compare technology with Apple when they are so far behind :P

A stripped down Windows Mobile Treo could perform on par with the 2nd gen iPhone...that's pretty good marketing those guys contrive...it did earned them huge bucks...kudos for that...but I'm not buying into it...

I am tech savvy and love bleeding edge...when someone ask me what smartphone to get I chk to see if they are tech savvy or simply don't want complexity...if tech savvy I rave about Android...if not then I tell them to move along nothing to see here...buy an iPhone and begone...and you know what...90% don't buy an I phone...not entirely sure why...but my suspicion is BIG screens...and replaceable batteries...cause that's the 2 most asked questions...

Sorry but iPhone's are great...but Androids are WAY more appealing...

...the surge is over for Apple...and for your point about WP7...Apple better hope they don't figure out how to win customers...cause they won't be Android customers!

So I have a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant here in Canada and I have had it for over a year now. I really do love this phone and yes at times I have had issues but nothing that would make me go out and get another phone. I can tether it to my other devices (free of charge) and can do nearly anything with it. My Brother has the iPhone 4 and there really is no damn difference between the devices. You can dive into the nitty gritty but this stuff changes daily and it will always go on. Android is not going anywhere and I think if you do your research and pick a good quality phone you will have no more issues than iPhone has.

Just some food for thought but Apple is recalling all the iPod Nano's 1st Gen because of faulty batteries. Just so you know I can open up the cover on my Samsung and replace the battery in 10 seconds. It will take about 2 months to get a iPod back and then on top of that you only get a replacement (used fixed) they don't fix yours. http://www.apple.com/ca/support/ipodnano_replacement/?cid=CDM-CA-DM-P0010121-CON&cp=em--&sr=em

Oh Steve, my young mobile padawan learner, where to start?

I keep hearing people say that Android does way more. What does that mean? Paraphrasing, "my battery doesn't last as long because my phone does more".

Also if you ever notice, Apple never talks specs, or speeds of components. The closest you will see is when they say the phone/iPad have dual core processors. The don't highlight how fast they are or how much ram they have. They focus on the experience. And LTE is too spotty so far. Not a consistent experience.

Being that I live in Tampa and rarely ever leave the I-4 corridor. 4G LTE for me is not an issue...it's always there. I realize if i travel, I may lose the 4G, however, unless I am streaming movies (even music I never had problems with on 3G), I don't see that as an issue.

Just one questions Kevin, what happens if you drop your iPhone in a snow bank?
