Hey all,

I have just started getting this error message when I try and open an existing file or create a new part. See attached.

This started just after I used the 3GB Switch (which created some graphics problems). I have since rebooted with the normal OS and am now getting this error.

Does anyone know what it is and how to resolve it? Will I have to perform a repair install?

TIA

I am designing as system using a servo motor as a clamp. There will be times when the servo motor is driven backwards through the gearbox. The servo motor can handle this, but is there anything I should consider when it comes to the gearbox? I want to use a planetary gearbox with a 70 to 1 ratio. Are there any gearboxes that are better suited for this type of setup?

I need some help, cant seem to make the style editor work on my standard title block template.

What I want is for the BOM to display the number of items in the Qty field of componet parts such as sqaure tubing. What I get is the total inches required and I am unable to change this.....

The shop prefers to have the dims on the drawing and qty in BOM.
Hello, I'm using Inventor 2008 and in idw's both in metric & english title blocks there is an area for weights for the assembly, in the metric idw, the weight shows as xxx kg and in the english idw, the assembly weight is shown as xxx lbmass.
I spent a great deal of time trying to search in the help files for a way to modify the result to show xxx lb without "mass" as part of the display.
Could not find an answer.

Can anyone help with this question please.

Many thanks in advance.

So who uses what? I need to print a BUNCH (500+) IDWs of various sizes all to B sized PDFs.

The Task Scheduler sucks. Has little to no options. And the PDF -printer I use asks me for each file name to save.

Any suggestions? (This project is in R11 and I'd prefer to keep it there if possible).

Sometimes I wish there was a symmetry constraint in the assembly enviroment.

I know you can achieve the same thing with common parameters, I just think it would be neater.

I suppose the constraint would use 3 entities insted of 2. Would that be a problem?

What do you guys think?
I have a coworker that has a MONSTER of a project. It's just huge, and bigger than anything we've attempted. I'm not deeply involved, but I'd have to guess he's got over 10,000 parts modeled. The "higher ups" are pushing for an ungodly timeline.

I was thinking about helping him detail some of the parts, but I'm not sure of the method or dangers.

How hard is it for us both to work on the same project at the same time? How do we deal with Vault?

If I change the height dimension of my "bag.ipt" I can make the air bag inflate and deflate. I wanted to drive this dimension like you can with constraints. Do I need to do adaptive part for the "bag.ipt" leaving off the height dimension and then have a mate or insert constraint that I can drive? I have attached what I have so far. Any suggestions?

I have always had to manual make my centerlines for holes in drawing views to make them look the way I want them to. I am really tired of having to do that so I once agaion starting messing with my Centermark styles setting to see if I could make it work the way I want. I had not tried in a couple of releases and was hoping that something had changed in 2008 that would help. However, I still do not get the results I want from Automated Centerlines.

The attached image is a 1: 1 metric and shows what I want and what I get.

So am I missing something here to make this work as expected?

I trying to write and Add-In that prevents .dwg files from opening in Inv 2008 and beyond. It seems pretty straight forward but I can’t figure out how to cancel the open if a .dwg is detected.
This is the “OnOpenDocument” code I have thus far. It seems setting the HandlingCode = kEventCanceled should to the trick, but the .dwg file still opens.

Am I missing something obvious? I've also placed this on the Adsk Discussion Group (Prevent .dwg from opening in Inv) but I haven't gotten a response yet so I thought I'd try here. Any help is much appreciated!

Hi All,
I was working on modeling this stamping. I am having trouble where the R2.688 meet the 4" width. See the top left front view. The print is circa 1968ish.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am running IV'08 Pro. Thanks
I went to MacDill Airfest this year on Sunday. It was pretty good. A small showing...normally about 750,000 people all weekend...current numbers only show about 80,000 for the whole weekend...still a good show. Here are some pics I got...

I know the command blockreplace but...

* is it possible to replace one xref by another xref?
* is it possible to replace an xref by a block?
* is it possible to replace a block by an xref?

PS: the drawings are placed in Autodesk Productstream Compass Pro, I don't know if this will give any problem...

Many thanks in advance!

Hello,
I want to aske if there is a way to create style so when
I flat pattern my sheet metal part the cutting corner
to be (flange-Thickness) (see picture for more detail).

For 2 flanges the distance between bending lines to be flange -2*Thickness
(see picture for more detail).

I have tried with kfactor, Corner options, bending tables but I
didn't find any flat pattern that suit me.
Does anyone have an idea?
