Just a quick poll to see how many people use iGoogle? I have to thank Brian Hall for this answer on a previous thread. I thought I would bring it to the forefront, because It may be more common than we think.

I created a part file with several solid bodies. Then used the Make Components to create separate parts inserted into assembly. When I tried to save or edit any of the new parts or assembly it crashed repeatedly.

Turns out (thanks again Brian) my template file had a sketch1 in it and this is what causes the crash. The IV2010 Standard.ipt template file does not have a sketch in it, but we have migrated our template file with all our own settings for the past few releases. Which seems to be very common.

With all that said, I just started using this and havn't developed a complete workflow, but it is very quick and easy!!!

So, one of my big beefs with exercising is that it is hard for me to bench mark myself, and see my progress (mainly because I am too lazy to write down my work outs). That was until Sunday when I happened across the Bones IN Motion App. It works on many phone networks (Verizon, sprint, Alltell, AT&T etc) with a GPS enabled phone. I have an LG enV2 with Verizon that I love. Anyway, you download the app, set up an online account at http://bimactive.com and then when you go run, walk, bike, whatever, you run the app and it uses the phone gps to track your time, speed, distance, pace...and it even calcs the min number of calories burned based on age, wt, ht and sex. when your done, you upload the data, and then go view it online...rates your exercise difficulty, how close you came to attaining your goals, and even lets you export your route to google earth and the such...anyway...I think it's pretty cool...

Okay, so I have been given some DWF files, but is there anyway to convert them back to .dwg? How is it that AutoCAD can publish to DWF, but can't get the file back? Or is there a command I am missing somewhere in my menus. I'm running AutoCAD Mechanical 2008.

Greetings.

Does anyone have a solid model of a helical spring lockwasher? I'm looking for M20, but I would accept an .ipt factory as well. I checked CBliss's website, but I found only imperial washers. Maybe someone could point me to another website that I can dowload from?

Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

Is it possible to populate the title block with the base view's scale. I don't recall ever seeing this property available inside the text editor. I see that in AIP 2010 it is available to modify the view's label and scale as a property inside that enviroment. Thanks
I am running IV2009 with a remote vault that is also used as the Content Center source. I am a network and vault admin and when I run IV the Content Center works fine. How I have another user that once he selects the CC family of parts he wants he always get a run time error (see attached image) and IV crash to desktop. I have tried making him a vault admin to see if that chnage anything but it did not. The only other thing I can see that would be different is his network permissions which I can not change.

Does anybody else know a solution of things I can try?

Greetings.

Does anyone have a good tutorial about how to use Design Assistant? I've got a drawing of a large welded assembly, and I need to swap out the .iam of that drawing with a new .iam that is identical to the first except for one part. The drawing is two sheets with GD&T, weld symbols and all kinds of non-standard views. I would rather not recreate the new drawing from scratch. Design Assistant should help me do this, but IV Help does not provide a step-by-procedure, at least I haven't been able to find one, and a search of this site turned up nothing.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I have drawn a seat for a police vehicle cell, but i feel I did it poorly.

It is more or less exactly what I want, but it took me like an hour of mind numbing experimentation.

The SM Part is a contour flange that is consistent for most of the length, then tapers. How do I draw that? Is that what bend is for?

There is more to it then that, I need to design for manufacture (see model for welding gaps) or I would loft it! In particular I need a flat pattern DXF.

Any advice appreciated.

We have a library of iParts. One of them in particular that I have created is quite simple. It is a 3/8-24 all thread stud of varying lengths. Recently, we updated the material from carbon steel to 304 S/S. I have added material property to the table. Additionally, this property is in my styles and standards (same as the default Stainless, but with a "different" name). The material property is showing up correctly in both the table, and the iParts, iProperties, but when I insert it into a drawing file, the material still shows up as Carbon Steel (the original material property). What am I doing wrong, the .idw isn't giving me an option to update. I have even deleted from the drawing, and reinserted a base view...same problem...very frustrating.

Hi all,

I am beginning to customize the vault view and I added the description column to the visble fields. My question is, why are none of the description values visble? The properties state is set to "in use." I even re-indexed just to see if I was missing something. I also checked thru the Property Defintions and it appears I have usage for all System properties but 0 usage for any and all File Properties...? Any guidance would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks
P.S. Vault 2010 / AIP 2010

When I create a detail view I'd like it to stay locked on the view I created it from. It seems if I make any adjustments the detail view moves, and all my balloons are disconnected.

It's easy enough to move the view back and have the balloons automatically reconnect, but it always seems like I'm baby-sitting my drawing. Make a change here, double check all the occurances to make sure they aren't a mess....... go ahead and print.

I'd much rather KNOW the drawings are going to be ok.

So, as much as I hate to admit it, AutoCAD (Mechanical- not mechanical desktop) actually serves a significant purpose where I work. It is ideal for making large floor plans that our railing goes into. However, currently, when we show a post, we create a block, and then array it (if we are lucky enough to have even spaces) or just copy it along a predefined spacing. Is it possible to have my "post" profile, to be a "blip" on a line style, sort of like a dot or how a double dash works on a section line.
